What is Tanzfest?

Every year, for one weekend in May simultaneous dancing happens in around 30 cities and towns throughout Switzerland. Try something new in showcase classes, marvel at the work of the artists on stage, be surprised by dances in public spaces or dare to take a step on the dance floor yourself - anything is possible at Tanzfest!

The Tanzfest was launched in Zurich in 2006 and has since developed into a unique nationwide event. The number of participants shows how extraordinarily fast the event has grown: from 5'000 participants (2007) to 48'000 participants (2011) to almost 95'000 participants (2019). Today, around 4,000 participants and 200 partner institutions implement the concentrated program consisting of 600 dance courses, 450 dance performances and 40 parties throughout Switzerland.
