The album – “SARA” is a continuation of the vocalist’s previous albums, "UMIERA PIĘKNO" (Beauty is Dying) and "KSIĘGA OLŚNIEŃ" (A Book of Luminous Things), on which Aga explored a range of outstanding poetry. She received Fryderyk awards in the “poetic song” category for both "UMIERA PIĘKNO" and "KSIĘGA OLŚNIEŃ". For her latest album, Aga has chosen poems that are close to her heart. That is the poetry of Sara Teasdale, the preeminent American poet who lived at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. For the artist, the musical and literary strata are of equal importance. The phenomenal melodiousness and rhythmic character of her poems are extraordinary material for composers.
The music is intimate, accentuates Sara Teasdale’s poems in an expressive way, and transports the listener into a world of sublime harmonies and innovative melodies. The amazing sound of Aga’s voice is accompanied by two exceptional guitarists, Szymon Mika and David Dorůžka, who wrote songs for Aga’s album. The artist herself conceived a couple of the melodies as well. The musicians play on several types of guitars, enjoying the diversity of sounds. Transcending it all is the soul of a remarkable woman – Sara Teasdale, who had an incredible sensitivity and was a great lover of music.
Sara was one of the most renowned and popular poets in her lifetime. She was honored in 1918 with a Pulitzer Prize, in the field of poetry – Love Songs. This was the first Pulitzer Prize to be awarded in that field.
