WATERDANCES/YES POEMS
by Maria Zimpel
Swiss film premiere in Muzeum Susch
In the beginning of summer of 2021 - after long walks through the Engadine Alps and movement research in a Hamburg studio - Maria Zimpel, together with Claudio von Planta, filmed Waterdances / Yes Poems. Together they explored her idea of the body as a transmitter and the ecofeminist idea of the embodied nature. Nature is not separated from us but rather a dynamic force balancing the body from within. Through mobilising the sensuous body they search for the patterns and qualities that organise both the movements of the dancing body and of the natural surfaces. The boundaries between one and the other are watery. The choreography moves between real and imagined landscapes, explores geological surfaces and investigates the poetics of water. The film tells a non-linear story of an encounter of the body with natural forces.
